Welcome to The Banger Blast!
Hey, Fam! It’s officially the Dog Days of Summer, and I’ve been going-going-going for months now. I’ve had many ups and downs, including job loss, unexpected expenses, watching my kid graduate, and subsequently missing their 30th birthday after my husband, stepdaughter, her girlfriend, and I all got COVID (singing at a tiny karaoke bar up in Humboldt, CA, of all places). I’m working through it and staying on top of my health with therapy, yoga, and the sun on my face.
At the heart of everything is The Whizbanger Show. I’m working on taking periodic breathers to recharge and gear up for killer plans to make The Whizbanger Show even more banging with compilations to raise money toward mutual aid, interviews with more amazing artists, and Whiz Show merch. I’ve been creating this podcast steadily since 2019, and it remains a constant in my life that brings me pure joy. It’s my way of giving back to a community that has stood by me since I was just a young teenager all those years back, hanging out at Ruthie’s Inn in Berkeley.

Jupiter Cyclops dropped a new video for the title track of their July 19, 2024 debut album, “Age of the UFOnaut,” from Rockshots Records. The track is filled with face-melting riffs and chronicles a bizarre story about an encounter with an interdimensional race.
The tracks explore mysteries of UFO encounters, conspiracy theories (are we not alone?), and shadowy depths of the human psyche; this album delivers a sweet sonic assault. I love it for its unique fusion of hazy stoner vibes, classic metal's rawness, and 70s swaggering proto-metal. I found it familiar and refreshingly new.
